My Favorite Combination of 2010

Over the years, we have created many beautiful 14" baskets. Here is my NEW favorite for this year.

What am I doing wrong?

That is the question I get asked the most this time of year. Almost everytime it has to do with the amount of water that plant is getting. Too much water is as bad as too little. The plant will even look the same when you overwater or underwater, yellow & limp.

Some plants will need to be watered twice on a warm and windy day. Some plants that spend most of their time in the shade might only need to be watered every other day.

So the key is to check the soil or the weight of the basket. If the soil is dry to the touch or if you pick up the basket and it is light, water it. If not, wait.

Another problem is BUGS! With each weather front, bugs come! So keep your eyes open for aphids, spider mites, and hungry little caterpillars. If you see any of these on your plant, isolate it from your other plants if possible and spray them with Bonide's Eight. This product kills over 100 types of bugs. You will need to spray it a couple times, so you are sure you get them all.
